Steak and Eggs and Poison Ivy

peppercorns (baies roses de Bourbon) and tomato concasse. So what’s with the title? Pink peppercorns come from the Brazilian Pepper tree which is in the cashew and mango family (yes, they’re related) – and also includes poison ivy and poison oak.

My own take on steak and eggs – grilled skirt steak (marinated in dark soy, sesame oil, worcestershire, garlic) and an omlette with pink Once banned in the US by the FDA, they contain cardanol – a nasty phenol that can cause skin irritation, respiratory problems, etc. Lucky for me:

  1. They’re no longer banned
  2. They’re tasty (slightly floral and resinous)
  3. I’m not allergic to poison ivy
