Do Chua

Lately I’ve been working on refining my recipe for thịt heo nướng (Vietnamese grilled lemongrass pork), so when my friend Beth (@foodgodtess, NakedwithCooking.com) came by for Sunday dinner a few weeks ago, I decided that rather than just eat the stuff straight off the chaunr grill like I had been doing, we should class it [...]

Hawker Food – Si Fang Cai (Secret Supper)

I’m not sure who had more fun at the first Si Fang Cai (Secret Supper) – me or the guests. The menu was based (mostly) on Asian hawker food – or “street” food.

The weather cooperated, allowing for drinks and cooking outdoors, before moving inside for an intimate dinner peppered with great conversation.

Atlanta Food Blogger’s Dinner – Round 2

Here we go again! It’s been 4+ months since the last time we got together, braving pre-Xmas traffic and raging thunderstorms – far too long. We had a great time and good food, plus I think we all came out feeling pretty positive about what we do.

Crawfish Shack

A couple of things have stopped me from visiting Crawfish Shack until now. I spotted it pretty early on, even before they opened, but by the time they did open it was off my “route” along Buford Highway. Then the levee broke (no pun intended – really, I didn’t catch that until way after I [...]

Bamboo Grill and Hot Pot

Com Ga Thailan
In chasing ethnic food along Buford Highway (or anywhere for that matter), one thing that I have difficulty with is that restaurant owners are often afraid to break the boundaries of what they think people expect.

Cheap DIY: Vietnamese Cà phê sữa đá

If you’re already a fan, then you already know – Vietnamese coffee is some of the best in the world. If you aren’t familiar with Vietnamese coffee (cà phê) and you love coffee, this is something you must try.

There are a couple of problems, however. Vietnamese coffee is typically only offered in, well, [...]

Saigon Deli

Gà xào xả ớt
A nasty, rainy day in Atlanta, and nothing seemed to be working out right. In a feeble attempt to lift my mood, I headed to Asian Square for lunch, intent on bahn mi at Quốc Hương. From the way my day was proceeding, I should have known in advance that it would [...]
